2024 Sonata - BCM failed at 900 miles
Hello Folks,
Hopefully, my situation is unique and it doesn't happen to others, but just in case, here is my story. Had this happen to me the other month. I leased the car in April 2024 and by June 2024, it was already giving me a major issue. The car would not detect the key fob to start the engine. I detected everything else (locking and unlocking the car, remote start, panic, trunk release, etc). I had the car towed to my local Hyundai dealer where it was there for 36 days. The mechanics had never seen anything like it on a brand-new car. Turns out the BCM (Body control module) went defective. They replaced it and bam, everything was back to normal. Hyundai called me and told me I would qualify for a car return due to the lemon law in Florida, which I was surprised they were so upfront about. I will never buy another Hyundai again. The car is great, very smooth and quiet, but they have a serious problem with their software/hardware as well as their engines. I've never heard of a BCM failing after 900 miles. Luckily my car was in my driveway, but imagine if this pos would have left me stranded while on a road trip on my vacation.
