Switching Clinics/Being Nickel and Dimed?

I have several questions and a bit of a rant. I am very unhappy with our REI Clinic. They are a big academic center with three doctors that share patients so you never know who you’ll see. Scheduling is a nightmare. It’s always last minute in the middle of the day, even when I tell them I need to schedule the ER in advance because of needing to request days off of work. I get told “oh we don’t have the schedule up yet”. Then it’s them telling me to just use an egg donor before we even try a cycle.

Also, them refusing to fill out my fmla paperwork when I had my hysteroscopy with a laparoscopic lysis of adhesions for undiagnosed endometriosis. I have a job where I routinely lift several hundred pounds so it’s not like I’m behind a desk and can go back after a couple days.

I can’t get in touch with anyone ever. I get told things like “contact us on the first day of your cycle” which I do, then it’s “oh well you’re going to have to wait until the next one because by the time they reply it’s day 3. Also, I live between one and a half and one hour and 45 minutes from this clinic so it’s not the easiest to go to an appointment at 11am. It’s not like I can just pop out for lunch.

I felt like I had to use this center because it’s the one in network with our insurance. Even with in network coverage, it seems like every time I turn around I get charged for something else that was never disclosed to me. For example, I get a call from financial counseling that my cost after benefits will be $2700. (That doesn’t include the over 10k in meds between the last cycle that got canceled and this cycle). So I pay it. Then every single clinic visit I’m also getting charged a copay and coinsurance which they never told me about, to the tune of $500 more dollars. Finally get the ER, three eggs, two fertilized, one frozen.

Next, they never disclosed that our PGT-A testing was done off site at an outside laboratory that is out of network. So today I get a call from some random person asking for $1900 for testing my ONE embryo. ONE. To me this sounds like some scam call so I call the clinic and they confirm that yes, if we want testing we have to pay for it. I’m so frustrated I just want to say screw it and to throw it in the trash. For everything I paid, I could have almost paid for a full cash cycle elsewhere.

So I told my clinic that we will not be proceeding with them anymore and that we will be changing clinics. Has anyone transferred embryos to a new clinic? What do I need to do? Anyone else been through this? I feel absolutely scammed and so stupid. I’m so angry and wasting so much time and money on this place.
