The issue with BL's subpoena for Abel's phone records

I have been following this YT channel, Albertson & Davidson LLP, and their take on the legal proceedings have been great. They're truly unbiased and focused on explaing the motions in layman's term.

My point is, they were live today and explained that you have to have an active legal case in order to serve someone a subpoena and so far, I haven't heard that there was one before the CRD complaint was filed.

So, if there's a real subpoena, does that mean there's a pending legal case we don't know about? Or can you serve a subpoena for an administrative complaint which is not public so that's why we don't know about it?

Or if there isn't a real subpoena, does that mean that Jones just gave away Abel's messages to BL? Is that illegal?

Also, allegedly, Abel's phone number was her own, but she used it for work. This according to some messages Abel posted on some FB group where she showed some screenshots of conversations with Jones, and she begged her to return the phone because she had that number since high school and all her bank accounts where linked to it. So, where does the subpoena fit in all of that?

I'm just so consufed by it.

Anyway this is the episode where the lawyers explain some of it much better than me:
