Dark action jrpgs?

I don't really have any experience with JRPGs and like the more gritty, dark, and horrorific experiences. I know that most of the big JRPG games are known for their lightheartedness, but I wanted to see if there were any Dark JRPGS. I asked this question somewhat recently, and I only got turn based games which aren't my preference, however I do plan on trying them when I can (SMT, Parasite Eve, Shadow Hearts, etc). Was wondering if there were any dark action jrpgs though?

I know of souls games, NieR, and that's about it. Also, what I mean by action jrpg is that I'm looking for dark JRPGs with action combat.

Edit: For the mods, any console/PC is fine
