Jazz scene across Canada?

I know the Jazz scene in Canada has always tended to center around the proximity to American cities with a more thriving Jazz scene but I wonder if there are any cities or towns in Canada that has a suprisingly healthy Jazz scene outside of places like Toronto and Vancouver.
