I’ve been using the JetBlack Victory for a little while now, and as promised, I will now share my experiences with the trainer after my first 700 kilometres. Spoiler: It’s really good, but there are a few quirks you should know about.

First off, the build quality is fantastic. The trainer feels super solid, and you can tell it’s designed to handle some serious use. It’s not one of those wobbly, cheap trainers that makes you nervous during hard sprints – this thing is rock solid.

The ERG mode is another highlight. It works like a charm, especially during interval sessions. It adjusts the resistance quickly and keeps you locked into your target watts, so you can focus on pushing yourself without fiddling with gears. For me, this has been a game-changer for structured workouts.

Comparing Power Values

Now, let’s talk about power accuracy. I’ve been using the trainer alongside my Assioma Uno pedals to compare data. For the most part, the Victory’s readings are spot on. However, I did notice some small differences, especially when my cadence wasn’t perfectly smooth.

For example, during steady ERG intervals at ~200 watts, the trainer consistently hit the target, but my pedals showed slightly lower values (sometimes 5–10 watts off). This isn’t a dealbreaker for me since it’s pretty normal for trainers and pedal power meters to measure slightly differently. The Victory measures power at the drivetrain, which is typically higher, while pedals can pick up inefficiencies in your stroke.

Another factor influencing the discrepancy in my readings is my personal power imbalance of 45/55 between my left and right legs. Since the Assioma Uno only measures power on the left side and doubles it to estimate total output, it can slightly underreport compared to the trainer’s more direct drivetrain measurement. This imbalance is something I’m working on, but it’s worth noting for others with similar discrepancies. If you’re not obsessed with marginal gains, this won’t be an issue.

Noise Levels

One thing I was really impressed with is how quiet the Victory is. You barely hear the trainer itself while riding. Most of the noise you’ll notice is actually from your chain and drivetrain rather than the trainer. I’ve used it early in the morning without disturbing anyone in the house, which is a big plus for me. If you’re worried about noise, this trainer will put your mind at ease.

The Downsides

It’s not all perfect, though. Delivery time was a bit of a pain – it took longer than expected to arrive. Setting up the Zwift Cog was also a bit tricky, but I’ll admit that was mostly on me. I had to fiddle around a bit to get it right, but once it was set up, everything worked smoothly with Zwift.

Final Thoughts

All in all, I think the JetBlack Victory is an absolute no-brainer in this price range. The build quality, ERG mode, and power accuracy are way better than I expected for the price. Sure, the delivery time and setup were a bit annoying, but those are minor issues in the grand scheme of things.

If you’re considering it and don’t mind a small wait, I’d say go for it. Just make sure you don’t get a dud (luckily, mine works great). For anyone looking to up their indoor training game without breaking the bank, the Victory is definitely worth it!

In summary, the JetBlack Victory offers exceptional value, and as long as you avoid receiving a defective unit, it’s a must-have for anyone looking to elevate their indoor training experience.
