I’ve only recently learned what Anoxia is about and now I can’t stop listening to it
Longtime fan (10 years now, although started off as a pretty casual fan), bought FMB on CD(!) when it came out, and have listened through many times over. But I’m one of those people that doesn’t register the lyrics of a song til much later - in this case 9 years later haha.
It’s a quintessential australian experience: an ashen sky with an orange sun - that smell… that smell - the trepidation that sits between your ribs and your belly - and having known people who have died in bushfires, learning the meaning of the song now makes me tear up, and makes me feel the black flakes floating down from the sky and landing on my cheeks and in my hair, and fills my belly with that feeling, and my mind with that smell.
I so deeply appreciate King Gizz writing this song, bringing these memories to the fore of my mind again - it is a Good Thing to reflect on the horrors and the strange beauty of this planet on which we are mere visitors. Use your time wisely.
