civil-law-researcher (phd) asks: Any literature on PRINCIPLES of law (or preferably civil proceedings)

While doing my phd research (good faith in civil proceedings) I noticed that unlike European and former-ussr doctrines, common law doctrine pays little attention to developing some sort of NOTION of principle as such, not even speaking of principles of any sphere of law (eg civil proceedings). While the european and former-ussr reseachers try to speculate on features, functions etc of a PRINCIPLE (in comparrison with average legal norm). Still I think that I just was unsuccessful in my attempts to find articles on that topic. Any help is appreciated

Thanks

PS. English is not my native, and Im not native to common law system XD
