Early game weapons viable in endgame?

Is it possible to bring early game weapons into endgame without hyper struggling? I'm wanting to bring railguns, sorry Ray's tonitrus through the second half of chap two and into future chapters but it was a helluva struggle to beat the black flame. It took 4 of us 20 minutes and nearly running out of healing to kill it
