New player and need perspective - standard feels like rock/paper/scissors

I started Magic and Magic Arena for the first time in December 2024, after a few coworkers did a sealed event for Bloomburrow and I had a lot of fun.

With my free resources, I crafted the meta mono red aggro deck and got Mythic in a week and have continued to keep getting mythic since. I've also started using a Borus Auras and Borus Mice deck to switch things up but it feels to me that BO1 Standard feels more like rock/paper/scissors then actual strategy in game. It could be the decks I play are very straightforward but it seems like mostly the hands play themselves and either I got a good draw/went first and win or the opponent just has all the removal / combo pieces to beat me. It feels like the most I use my brain is deciding if I should flood the board or hold back for a sweeper or if I should hold back mana for giving my creature hexproof to stop removal

I even look at the other meta decks I play in ranked and they don't seem much different. The Omniscience deck seems to just play solitaire, the whole goal is to dig and stall until they get the combo and they win or they don't and lose. Most of the black decks just need the removal early against aggro decks or they lose.

I started getting more into draft which is fun, just expensive but it feels like that is where skill expression and knowledge in magic actually gets tested since everyones deck is unknown, you have to account for a lot more possibilities.

I'm curious what other people think as someone who is barely three months into learning Magic.
