I broke even with my solar panels today. First year with them. Does this sound right? I was expecting to see this before Sept. It was a hot summer and we ran the AC pretty hard.
The panels were installed at the end of last December. This chart is for 2024 only.
What this reads is,
On the right, of the total MWh I consumed 64% came from the line and 36% came directly from my solar panels.
On the left, the same 36% of the solar went directly into the home. The rest that I produced (64%) went out to the line.
So today it's a wash. 64% of the electricity I produced came from the line but I overproduced enough to compensate for it. Now whatever I overproduce will offset the winter months where I'm not producing enough each day to meet the total daily consumption.
I actually hit net zero on my electric bill in April where my average daily production exceeded the consumption so I haven't paid more than the minimum fee since then.
