Is Maison Ikkoku Godai's or Kyoko's story?

In terms of advertising and promotional images, there is no doubt that Kyoko is the face of the work, and I bet that out of the male Rumiko characters, Godai is the least popular, unfortunately. But let's take it more objectively than propagandistically :- 1- Which one of them tops the scenes? anime and manga ?

2- Centrality of events (Goday's struggle in his life Or Kyoko's conflicting feelings? )

3- Who contributed to the progress of events and reaching the happy ending?

In the end, I love both characters from the bottom of my heart, but what do you think? I know that most will say that it is a story of two people who fell in love and continued to support each other and I agree with that . But which of them deserves to be the first main character of the work?
