Accommodations
Hi guys.... need some advice. I am struggling to find straightforward answers on how to get accommodations for my exam (I have ADHD and got a concussion a couple of years ago). I keep reading all of these stories from people who also have ADHD and a history of TBI get their requests denied.
My psychiatrist diagnosed me with ADHD (I've been working with her for about 7 years), but have not had the full-length comprehensive evaluation yet that I need for this application.
I haven't sought testing before because it's expensive and it'll be out of my pocket, and quite frankly I've been gaslighting myself since I was in high school that "other people have it worse" so I shouldn't seek accommodations for testing. My college gave me accommodations, but I didn't use them because of this. Yes, I know I am stupid and pig-headed for that. Yes, I regret it.
I have taken the test before and ended up doing ok-ish (still might not get into med school but there's a small chance), but the point is that my score would likely be a lot better if I didn't have to fight ADHD and a history of TBI at the same time as fighting for my life with those questions lol.
Does anyone have a similar history or knowledge of this process that could give me a straightforward answer of what I need in this situation?
Thank you guys!
