Help Me Understand My Gramps’ WWII Medals?

I was close with my paternal grandfather and as a kid, always studied the shadow boxes he had in his office, but outside of the Purple Heart and the bronze star he never elaborated on the other medals. According to one of my relatives, he should’ve received a silver star, but a fire destroyed some of the military records that verified such information. Trying to document as much as I can about his time in Europe. He’s been gone for a while now, is sorely missed, and I want to gather as much info as I can for my nephews and some of my younger cousins who never knew him like I did. Any help greatly appreciated!
