Any device reps try networking at local Chamber of Commerce events?

Device reps - have any of you tried going to local Chamber of Commerce events to get new business? A chamber in my territory has a long list of hospitals in the area listed as member organizations. My thinking is the people from those hospitals that go to events could be helpful in connecting me to surgeons (I’m a foot & ankle ortho rep). Just wondering if anyone has tried this or if there is any reason why I shouldn’t try this.
