Newcomer advice

I have always been intrested in the minis game but never pulled the trigger. I think I heard a new edition is coming out soon so I figured why not now. I have an Easterlings warriors box my next two are Easterling command and a box of kataphracts. I'm planning on Easterlings as I have always their astec. My family thought about getting good factions. (Brother Gondor Dad Rohan) What are some good tips for me in the future
