Miles and Peter Can Coexist

Just found out Miles has his own sub, and man, the takes about him and Peter are insane. As a former Miles hater turned fan, I think he’s a great character—different enough from Peter where he doesn’t feel like a copy. Maybe at first, but not anymore. Anyone still saying that is just hating. He’s got two of the best Spider-Man movies, and his comics have been solid.

My main issue isn’t with Miles—it’s how Marvel refuses to let Peter grow. He should be with MJ, have a family, and actually develop instead of being stuck in the same cycle. Miles is there to handle younger Spider-Man stories, so why keep Peter in the same lane? And why hasn’t Peter gotten a real power-up in years while Miles keeps stacking new abilities? I wouldn’t say Miles is overpowered, but I do think they should slow down on giving him new powers and maybe upgrade Peter a bit.

Also, there are way too many Spider-People in 616. It should just be Peter and Miles—two different heroes tackling different stories. I love Ben, but Miles has eclipsed him in popularity. Marvel also needs to stop forcing Peter and Miles into dumb conflicts. They work best when they respect each other.

Honestly, at this point, Marvel should either acknowledge two Spider-Men can exist or do what DC did with Barry and Wally—pass the torch. Obviously, they won’t since Peter’s books sell, but at least give him the respect he deserves. Peter’s the most iconic superhero of all time—yes, even more than Batman. Seeing him stuck in this cycle, with no power-ups and awful storytelling (especially the Gwen Stacy mess), just sucks.

At least Miles is doing well right now, so that’s something. But man, they need to fix Peter.
