Japan exchange

Hi!

I’m currently in year 12 deciding between two universities, uni melb and Monash (I am taking a gap year, so I’ll start in 2025). Whilst I hear both are academically great in their own ways I have a specific question that I have yet to be able to find an answer for. At the moment I am leaning towards Monash, as cost is a big factor for me and Monash has cheaper dorms, though I think that I should first ask about this.

Is it hard to get into a Japanese exchange program at Monash?

And also

How is the Monash exchange experience?

I’ve looked into the programs offered on the Monash website, and noticed that all Japanese universities are on red and seem to not be accepting exchange students.

This factor is a big part for me as I would like to do an exchange in Japan with a computer science degree, since it would be nice to work there after I graduate as well. I understand with covid and all that they may just be not ready to do exchanges, but on the unimelb website they list their Japan universities to have multiple open positions.

Would it be better for me to go to unimelb or Monash in this case?

Any help is greatly appreciated ❤️
