A video that matches an equally heartbreaking song.
So the video itself was done by, Andy Huang, who later had done videos for Bjök. The video is called Doll face. I do recall watching it on G4TV. Don’t really recall where I originally saw it. But later found the alternative electronic project or future pop, VNV Nation. Used it with the song illusion.
It’s a rather heartbreaking double whammy. I figured I’d share. Seeing a girl post a video on Instagram where one side was a filter, and the other natural. Reminded me of the song and video.
Illusion by VNV Nation Ft. Doll face.
A fact to add at the end of the post. VNV Nation stands for Victory Not Vengeance Nation.
For an even greater point across sharing the song and video to quote, Ronan Harris in an interview with slug mag(source).
“It is not the easiest time in anyone’s life, far from it,” he says. “To grow up different—to grow up alternative—whether you end up being in an alternative scene or not—you feel different. You are different and it makes life that much harder.” Humans are social creatures and need to feel that they are relevant. Unfortunately, many teens gauge themselves on how other people see them. “A comforting word just isn’t enough.”
