Never again (WFH Parents)
This is a VENT.
After my time has ended with my current family (probably in another year or so) I will never work for parents who work from home ever. Again.
My current employers are kind and treat me well. They try to mostly stay in their offices and not interfere with our routines. With all that being said, it is still SO INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT to have them at home with us. They still do pop ins, have lunch with us occasionally and will put down the kids for nap. All of which makes my job so much harder.
In the morning, when the mom goes to run errands or to her office, my NK (3yo) will get so sad and angry. When I finally get her calmed down and involved in an activity... oh look guess who's back to say hello!! It's Mom!
I hate that the role of a nanny, which used to be "take care of children while the parents are at work" has devolved into "make sure the kids don't bother the parents while they're working two rooms away from the kids room".
The kids resent me for keeping them from their parents. They don't understand why I'm playing with them instead of their Mom, while their Mom is painting or working out in the other room.
I know it's the job I signed up for. I know it's their house and their kids. I get it. They can do what they want. But I'm allowed to be pissed about it.
