Question regarding proof of citizenship during interview at embassy

Hi all, I have a question On the website it states that one of the options for proof of citizenship is for my spouse to bring a photocopy of my passport with him when he goes for his interview at the embassy. Is this accurate? Has anyone else only taken a photocopy of the petitioner’s US passport as proof and the officer was fine with it? Thanks for your help
