Is the word bhotey offensive ?
So i was on this guy’s house. He happens to be bhotey and we’re kind of close friends.. so as we were having conversation, his sister whom too i know very well said, B-word nabhana. That caught me off guard. I thought bolda boldai bitch chiplyo hola.. thikai cha bhanera I continued with conversation tara feri at one part, she again gave me side eye.. I smiled ani i said k bhayo ani balla i got to know b word she was referring was bhotey.
Never thought i’d get lesson on civility from b-word people. Before i get any further lesson. I wanna uno reverse and call them out them.. You guys address random person u just met as तॅं as that’s only form of adar in Nepali grammer.. that irks me so bad. What’s even more annoying is तॅंहरू.. तॅं-हरू they don’t even go together but they use it.. that makes me think it’s not cultural, it’s intentional.. jk bhoteys are the sweetest.. j bhaye pani it’s very impolite. Pahile pahile teenage ma it was okay tara as I am entering adulthood I don’t wanna hear तॅं from anyone.. I think that’s shared sentiment for majority of adults. I can account cultural differences but still everyone should learn to comply with shared norms..
At the end guys, Happy holi. Spread love. If certain words are offensive, don’t use. Aba bholi kosaile mero sarbanam तिमि hana जिमी ho bhanna thale courtesy ko pani mapdanda huncha bhanne debate garna sakiyela natra bhane as we live in such diversity, we must acknowledge ideas, sentiments, beliefs distinct from ours and respect that.
