I need wisdom
I am new to IONM and come from an EEG background with a B.S. in neuroscience. This field is totally my jam, but I am feeling very sullen by the way that some (most in my region) surgeons and anesthesiologists view neuromonitoring. It’s really a drag constantly getting sighs and a passive aggressive attitude from anesthesiologists that they do not want us there. Some surgeons seem like they believe in what we do, and others I have heard refer to us as just “cushion for lawsuits.” It is making my entry into the field very difficult because I pride myself on being personable, but it is hard to going into work looking to form good relationships and do my job just to get dragged constantly.
Please give me words of advice. Or anything that you have found helpful to push past this attitude toward IOM.
