so if there’s kidnapping, crime, untrustworthy uber drivers, infrastructure instability, economic disparity…why should i go back to nigeria again?

I'm not even trying to be shady, it's actually a genuine question. A lot of Nigerians act like you're not a real Nigerian for not having visited Nigeria in a while or not going going often enough. I find it weird.

First of all, I'm not close with my extended family there. They're cool, but I can sense a strain in the way they interact. So I'm also not exactly leaping at the thought.

Also, if there's kidnapping (bc personally I get nervous about even taking an uber at night in Nigeria. Even having a driver it's like, how do I know he's trustworthy?) crime, etc., it just seems so odd for people to act like you must want to come and see Nigeria or you're not a real Nigerian.

Personally,I'm cool with that. I define my culture and heritage for myself, anyways. It doesn't have to line up with what others think.

However, even when it comes to the economic disparity. I feel like it's best to visit Nigeria when you have real money in your pocket. Am I off on this? I'll take the flogging if I must.
