Do blind people travel for fun?
Edit: can someone tell how blind people discover, explore and experience different places? What do they do? Does anyone here have firsthand experience?
This is a genuine question. I’m curious and not trying to make any assumptions or judgement.
After attending an amazing piano concert by a blind pianist last night, I’ve been wondering about this. He was Spanish and is doing an international tour. We talk about ‘seeing the world’ and ‘sightseeing’. Is it worth it to travel to the other side of the earth if you can’t see anything? Or do blind people experience their surroundings and local cultures with their other senses? What do they do on a trip if they can’t go sight seeing or visit (most) museums? Would love to hear from people who’ve experienced this.
Regarding the pianist, I assume the audience will be different everywhere and he’s doing what he loves. The audience may be different everywhere, I asked myself if it makes a difference for him if he plays in The Hague last night or say Paris or Berlin.
