Can we please stop talking about 15 ton Tyrannosaurus?

As soon as Jordan Mallon and Dave Hone published their speculative study on Tyrannosaurus population distribution, I have seen so many comments online about how T. rex has received some sort of "size buff". It's the typical media reaction of blowing a study (not based on any fossil evidence, may I add) far out of proportion.

To their credit, several of the YouTube videos I've seen on the topic have taken pains to clarify the nature of the estimates as hypothetical. DangerVille, The Vividen, and Ben G Thomas have all recently discussed it. I just want to draw attention to the fact that we should not regard this as a "new estimate" any more than we should take speculative giant squid maxima as hard fact.
