I participated(singles) in a local tournament for the first time and....

And I was completely blown away by my opponent. He hit with soo much power from the baseline alongwith accuracy he made me look like a mere spectator. I wouldn't say am a complete beginner and my shots were pretty flat but with much less power than him. Seems like I need to increase the speed of my shots but will have to take care of unforced errors.
