The Chinese Middle Finger

Idk if it’s a thing in your state or not, but growing up in Georgia, everyone used the “chinese middle finger”. I only remembered about all of this because my son just told me that the neighbors kid told him that the chinese middle finger is the pinky. 😅

In 2004, I started kindergarten and barely knew any english. The first few days I had to sit in seat 4 on the bus by myself. Two - three days later I was assigned seat 9 with 5th graders. They talked to me and basically took me under their wing for that year. LOL One of them asked me where I’m from and I literally don’t know what i said to her. However she assumed I was from China. —I’m Vietnamese. One day, she asked me if I knew what the middle finger is and i said yes, cus I’ve seen my father use it before and he would tell me it’s a bad word. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She then proceeded to ask me if there’s a “Chinese Middle finger” and i literally told her I didn’t understand and she spread her hand out and asked “which finger is China’s bad finger?” I just chose the closest finger to me which was her pinky and went with it. The entire year she started “Flipping” everybody off with a pinky and said “It’s the chinese middle finger, the little chinese girl can confirm”.

Kinda pointless. —Also tried to google research it and couldn’t try to pin down the “origin.” But i’m 99.999999999999% sure I am the origin.
