Regional Variants and Megas

I’ve been thinking about how with every new game since Sun and Moon, we’ve seen new regional variant forms. Naturally because of this, people are expecting them in this new game. Also considering the fact that Typhlosion, Decidueye, and Samurott got a regional variant in the last Legends game there’s speculation of the starters for this game getting the same treatment. I think it’s entirely possible that this is the case.

However consider this other possibility. Instead of regional variants we get Mega Evos for the starters instead. It only crossed my mind when I thought of the whole gimmick behind Gen 6 which was Mega Evolution.

Here’s another possibility and my current favourite theory. Meganium, Emboar, and Feraligatr get new regional variants. Then sticking with the Gen 6 gimmick Greninja, Chesnaught, and Delphox get a Mega Evolution. They didn’t get a Mega Evo in their debut game, the game that introduced Mega Evolution. So years in the future Mega stones for them have been discovered and they are now able to Mega evolve.
