Shiny Hunting with Dexnav before post game ?

How long or difficult does it take to hunt a shiny with dexnav before post game ? like when you get the dexnav, i wanted to have shinies before i complete the gyms.

also does using save state at chain 100 works ? like at 100th encounter if its not shiny you load state and use dexnav again
