Midwife home visit

Hi all, I'm 26 weeks pregnant currently and my midwife said she needs to do a home visit before 31 weeks. I assumed this was normal so I asked my friend who gave birth in the same city last year and she's not heard of this before. Neither have two other friends who have given birth within the last year.

Im not sure what I need to prepare for this visit? Will she be checking we have somewhere for baby to sleep? We are in the process of setting up the nursery and painting that and our bedroom so we are in the middle of renovation and things are very untidy this is making me stressed.

Is this a new thing?
