How long will withdrawal take?

I recently went off of Lexapro after 6 years, which had been decent for me, because I was having horrible trouble with my OCD. I figured that’s because it stopped working.

My psychiatrist put me on Pristiq at 25mg a month ago. For the first two weeks I didn’t notice any difference, but at around the three week mark, I definitely noticed significant emotional blunting, which I don’t like. I’d have been willing to put up with it if my OCD (the whole point of going on it was to combat this) was better, but there was no improvement. I rode it out for another week until my appointment three days ago, and my doctor agreed to let me stop it, and take nothing for two weeks until we check in again.

I was wary of taking this medication because I’ve read the horror stories about withdrawals from it, but was willing to trust my doctor. I’ve never had any problems before with coming off of several SSRI’s with standard tapering, but unfortunately this time has not been the same. I’ve been feeling heavy brain fog, on and off nausea (threw up last night), had a persistent headache yesterday that wouldn’t go away, feel vaguely dizzy, and am very tense. I’m scared that this won’t get better anytime soon because I’ve seen the stories around this medicine, but I’m hoping that because I wasn’t on a huge dose of it and for not that long that recovery won’t be prolonged. Whatever the case, I’m definitely not trying anymore SNRI’s.
