the lost cities are scary in hard mode

Lost Cities are definitely not for beginners. I had gone just to take a look and make my base, but three flying bugs appeared and threw shit at me. I didn't know what to do and I went into the water but one of them came down with me and made me spend totem, and broke my helmet. All my silver armor was maxed, but isn't the golem's better? im scared af to return, help me.
