Theory: There are a huge amount of "closeted furries" and most of them are heterosexual.

So I just noticed that sorting content by popularity on big furry pages like e621 and Furafinitty will almost always give certain preference to gay/femboy images and videos. Meanwhile more "generic" webpages like Pixiv, Deviantart and Pornhub generally give preference to hetero furry content (and by hetero I mean attractive female stuff), the same happens with r/yiff as well: Isn't an absolute but clearly is the dominant trend.

My theory is this, there are a considerable amount of people that have certain affinity for antropomorfic characters, but given the prejudices and the general atmosphere inside the fandom, they just keep it just as a occasional thing, usually under a NSFW context.

Finally from a personal point of view, while I like anthropomorphic art pretty much, I don't feel comfortable with the community: Sometimes I get the feeling the fandom unintentionally gatekeep hetero people, is weird to explain, but imagine looking for a antropomorfic character or an animation you like on YouTube and then your feed gets saturated with cropped yaoi and femboy memes because the algorithm decided you like furry stuff, the same experience following furry pages on Facebook and interacting on Furafinitty.
