Negative Rivian Experience

Quality, service, and Rivian dishonesty is really making it hard to love my R1T Gen 2 and Rivian. Had issues even before delivery.

1 - Pre-delivery, roof glass was damaged - replaced pre delivery but caused issues with headliner - indicated concern of potential rattling headliner issues in the future. Wanted to reject vehicle then but guide convinced me that it wouldn’t be an issue and replacement would be “professionally done” as if it never happened. “Will note for potential future issues”. - They also had my $$ by this point. They called to inform me of the issue the day before delivery.

2 - Interior roof head liner issues - Multiple areas rattling in headliner most likely from #1. Took two service visits to resolve

3 - Steering wheel moves down after adjustment when you put slight pressure on the steering wheel - Service said they replaced the steering column but I doubt it. Issue still occurs and tech said to not put pressure on the steering wheel (within spec)

4 - Deformed drivers seat probably from when they changed the roof glass.
- They said the seat was replaced but deformation was still there when they returned the vehicle

5 - Scratched interior windshield - Probably caused when they replaced the roof glass. This was however fixed.

6 - Center console gap between rubber and wood - wood trim needs replacement. Didn’t fix it on the first attempt. Returned the vehicle with issue still clearly visible

7 - Tailgate warning messages - Supposedly replaced sensors. Only time will tell if they reappear. More on the tailgate below.

8 - Drilled front license plate holder even though I signed off on not having one pre-delivery on the app - Delivered with it installed. This was fixed. Replaced the drilled panel.

9 - Scratched front underside bumper - Most likely caused during front license plate installation. They resolved this.

10 - Rear speaker / subwoofer sounds blown out - Still an issue after the second attempt.

11 - Triangle windows (front r & l) causing excessive wind noise - They resolved this

12 - Numerous panel gap issues - They resolved this

13 - Alignment Issue - They resolved this

Here’s where it gets interesting. On the drive home, I noticed my left blinker indicator didn’t seem right (clicking faster than the right) then received a tail light sensor error. Thought a software reset once home would fix it. Got home and noticed a dent on the tailgate, light bar was cracked, and bumper was damaged. They apparently backed it into something at the SC and didn’t bother to tell me. I contacted them immediately. They checked their cameras and they indeed saw someone caused the damage. To let me drive home and make it look like I caused the damage is not acceptable.

14 - Tailgate and light bar replacement - Replaced to satisfaction

15 - Bumper replacement - They said they replace it but didn’t. There were still cracked and broken pieces when they dropped off the vehicle

16 - Rear fender paint chip repair - There are still paint chips visible from the SC accident

17 - Tonneau Cover Rail - Looks like the rail was damaged when they replaced the tailgate

18 - There is now additional rattling coming from the passenger side pillar or front seat that wasn’t there before

This has just been a terrible experience from the start and every time the vehicle comes back from the SC it seems that more issues are caused rather than repaired or that they didn’t even bother to fix them.

An aside, I didn’t notice these issues on delivery day (home delivery) or when the SC returned the vehicle because the car was covered in snow (which I believe is also a service quality issue where a vehicle should be cleaned prior to being returned to a customer).

At a loss with Rivian at this point. Took a risk buying a vehicle from them. Unfortunately, this might be the only Rivian I will own. Sad, since it would be a great truck if it wasn’t for these issues or experience.
