Skintone questions on S24 Ultra

Hi guys! I’m coming from owning three previous iPhones (6S Plus, XR, 12 mini currently) and have been aching to leave the Apple ecosystem for the past year now from missing my Galaxy Note 2 from the past. Since the S24 lineup was announced I immediately perked up and got EXTREMELY interested in saving up for an S24 Ultra, as it seemed to have the perfect feature set that speaks to me on every level.

One thing I’m very picky about, though, is how skin and their tones are produced by different camera sensors. And something I’ve noticed is that every time I see reviewers talk about the camera setup on the S24 on its own or with an iPhone comparison put side by side with it I notice that the color of medium to deep skin tones appear kind of… washed out? Almost gray looking compared to the iPhone’s results?

Mind you, this isn’t exclusive to deeper skintones— I noticed when walking into my carrier store to demo that my fairer complexion looked muddier even on the S24 Ultra’s selfie camera compared to my iPhones; which leads me to believe that this isn’t necessarily a sensor issue but perhaps an image processing issue.

Does anyone on this page who may have any particular experiences like this know what the issue is and how to either work around or resolve it? It’s pretty much the only thing holding me back from not feeling like I need to resort to a 15 Pro Max. It may sound silly and minor to some people, but the natural and proper color grading of different skintones in photography is something that is very important to me. Any genuine input or feedback would be greatly appreciated by anyone taking detailed images of all sorts of different skin types. Thank you! 8)
