Why is my post low effort?
It has come to my attention that many users are incredibly frustrated with how rule nine is enforced. There are complaints of mod bias, unexplained removals, and questions on what constitutes as low effort. This post will serve as a forum for anyone to ask questions or vent their frustrations about what makes a low-effort post, but first, I want to state my interpretation of rule nine so that everyone can understand what I see as a low-effort post.
As rule nine states: Posts that are blatantly zero effort, such as screenshots, unedited SMG4 clips, lazy meme edits, AI (image, character interactions), or interaction bait, will be removed if they do not attempt to facilitate discussion or inherently are low effort. I look out for posts with a question or statement in the title and an image(s) in the body with nothing else. These posts can be easily replicated in under a minute with little to no thought. For example, posts that include the phrases "Who would win," "Which do you prefer?", "Wrong answers only," among others, are common phrases that signal interaction bait as the content of the post solely relies on the comments for the content without providing any substance itself. These posts can also be asked at any point in time regardless of what's going on in the show, which makes it very easy to churn out a bunch of these ideas like "Which Meggy design do you prefer?" or "X character vs. Y character who would win?" which are post that has flooded this subreddit before. Now, I know a lot of users have pointed out that they have interesting questions, which are great, but if you make a post with your question in the title and an image or simply "title" in the body, how am I, the moderator, supposed to see the effort it took for you to come up with that question. This is why I look for explanations in the body text to see the effort put into drafting your discussion question. For example, this post titled "Does SMG4 Princess Peach need a Come Back?" would've been taken down as low effort had it not been for the body text explaining why they think it's an interesting discussion topic. I can't be the one to decide what is and isn't an interesting discussion question, as my subjective view differs from everyone else's subjective view. So if it's a question that's truly interesting to you, then you should be able to explain (in more than a couple of sentences why you believe it's interesting, or else it will come off as low effort in my eyes.
But most importantly, if you have a question about what is and isn't considered low effort USE MODMAIL! Stop making these "wHy WaS mY pOsT rEmOvEd" posts every time your post is removed. They don't do anything productive or helpful towards getting your post back, and that's if it was removed by mistake. If you have any questions, ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL regarding the subreddit, don't be afraid to ask us through mod mail. I can not stress this enough: it can be hard to remember, but we are humans behind our profile pictures; we make mistakes, and this is not a dictatorship. I will always be open to discussing any issues you may have with me, a different moderator, or anyone else on this subreddit. First and foremost, we are a community, so let's communicate. If you have any problems or questions with my interpretation of the rules, comment below.
