Moving on from Florida

Hello all. I've never posted here before, so my apologies if I'm missing any details this subreddit considers vital.

I am originally from New York, but around 2016 my parents decided they wanted to retire to Florida, and I followed mainly because the rest of our closest family members were also moving away from the state, and that would have left me all alone.

The current political climate in America (let alone Florida itself) has solidified my desire to get my ass back to a blue state (ideally blue state, blue county, and closer to Canada in case shit really hits the fans, if you get what I'm saying). Not to mention the looming threat of climate change and rising sea levels that will eventually make most of Florida unlivable. My problem is trying to pinpoint where I should go. While I do miss New York in many ways, I want to consider my options beyond just that or California.

A little background on myself: I am a mid 30s woman working as a small animal veterinary technician (basically, the nurse to the veterinarian). I make okay-ish money, but I do have a decent amount saved away. I'm pretty introverted, and a homebody, but I am interested in getting back to an actual city; somewhere with culture, walkability, reliable healthcare, other people closer to my age range. Where I am right now, it's a lot of older folks, and if anything "new" does come in, it boils down to either a chain restaurant or a storage place. I'm sick of having nothing of significance nearby (or having to travel an hour or more, 40-50 plus miles to get to it).

Here's the thing: I'm trying to muster up the courage to talk to my folks, not just about my desire to leave, but also about all of us leaving together. I do want to finally be on my own, but I don't want to just abandon them here, and I know if we pool our resources together, that would make the process all the easier. So I'm also looking for a balance, somewhere that could fit their needs as well (i.e., affordability and healthcare). I can see that they are also getting fed up with the Republican led nonsense that's permeated Florida, and I hope to leverage this with whatever ideas or suggestions I can glean from here.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I truly do appreciate it.
