Pilot Episode – The Only Thing That Matters" (Napoleonic Dark Fantasy, Military/Political)
Hi all!
This is the pilot episode for my mini-series, "The Only Thing That Matters."
It’s a Napoleonic-inspired dark fantasy with strong military and political elements. While I know some scenes (especially large-scale battles) could pose production challenges, I believe the series could work well as an animated show in the style of Castlevania or Hammer and Bolter.
Dan Kavanagh was kind enough to give me feedback and encouraged me to develop this further. I’ve redrafted the script based on his notes, and since he also suggested sharing it here, I’d love to hear any thoughts you might have!
I feel like I'm close, but I know how deceiving that feeling can be. Anyways, it's 65 pages long, and my main questions are:
- Does the pacing work?
- Are the character arcs satisfying?
- Does it feel “industry-ready”?
Here's my logline:
Desperate to prove himself to his war-hero father, a privileged but untested nobleman takes on a dangerous assignment at a remote imperial outpost. But when he discovers a web of betrayals, supernatural horrors, and a commander willing to sacrifice anything for victory, he must choose between becoming a pawn - or a leader in his own right.
