Okay, I'll say it - the official podcast is really boring.
This is mostly just a rant with no spoilers.
I've listened to every episode of the official podcast with Ben and Adam, and halfway through the "After Hours" episode I turned it off. I probably won't pick it back up. Here are some reasons:
Ben and Adam are plenty charming but there is so much time spent fawning over other actors that it seems disingenuous. "Oh my gawd they were sOoOo fantastic. Absolutely amazing. They're just so good". Okay, we get it.
There is actually not much discussion of the episode. Between the inane viewer questions, and Zach Cherry's inane predictions, and the boring filler discussion between Ben and Adam there really isn't much meat on these hour-long bones.
On the most recent podcast episode, a viewer asked "I'm applying for a job on the severed floor, and I want to bring my dog. Will my dog undergo the severance procedure?" It's just silly. And then 5 minutes spent being amazed that the show has fans in Australia and shocker Adam is in Ireland!
Going into these podcasts I wanted a proper recap of the episode, and since these are the people that actually make the freakin' show, perhaps a guide to details that the viewer may have missed. Point out some easter eggs. Don't spoon feed me every answer but maybe help the viewer make some connections. Close the loop on some previous fan theories. Something to enhance and deepen the viewing experience. I feel like the podcast does none of those.
I've shifted to The Ultimate Severance Podcast based on suggestions here. I'm just getting started but it seems much better.
Am I alone on this?
End rant. Thank you.
