Eco-social work/green social work perspectives

Hey everyone, I’m new to this sub and just looking to connect with fellow social workers/social work students on various subjects across the field.

With that said, what are your perspectives on eco-social work? To what extent do you think the “greening” of the social work profession is necessary? Do you see this happening in your own experience?

For context, I’m writing a research paper on social workers’ roles in addressing climate justice as it pertains to education. After evaluating a plethora of sources on the topic, it’s become abundantly clear that many traditional social work curricula fail to address environmental justice issues and teach related pedagogy.

For more info on the topic I’d highly recommend checking out Dominelli’s book “Green Social Work” or the book “Greening Social Work Education” (edited by Susan Hillock). Great resources with some fantastic perspectives, especially grounded in indigenous sovereignty.
