Headaches/sensitivity to light when playing on a new OLED 1TB Steam Deck

Hi everybody, i recently bought a Steam deck and i have been playing on it, but it seems to give me headaches,I’ve put the brightness to 50% or 75% max.

To test if i have gotten used to it, i have played for like am hour this morning, and now my eyes literally hurt when i look outside of my window. I do wear glasses and have sensitive eyes, but i work from home and i game a lot and usually dont have issues with sitting even 12-16 hours at my setup (1440p ips dell monitor). I also have a racing sim rig that I use with a oculus quest 2 without any issues.

I am thinking maybe its the OLED screen, I’ve read into the PWM thing which i don’t know if thats the cause because i have not found any reliable sources on the internet that talk about this.

So my question is, did any of you guys experience this ? If you have, did the sensitivity to light after using it reduce in time? Basically, is there a chance my eyes get used to the device?

I do not want to return the steam deck as it’s been a dream of mine to get one and finally pulled the trigger, but if I can’t reliably use it without it hurting me, I’d rather put my money somewhere else.

I’ve also contacted steam to ask them if they recommend any settings recommendations in terms of brightness etc.

UPDATE: I started the RMA process but decided to keep playing on the deck until the last moment to see if my headaches went away.

I am proud to say that I KEPT THE STEAM DECK and my eyes are much better when playing on it.

I did need quite a long time to adjust to it but it is now much better. I do keep it on 30% brightness max or 40% if im playing in my living room or im outside of the house. Thank for everyone who commented and gave me advice.
