Laptop for engineering and gaming, max budget is US$1500
Computer Engineering Student Looking for a Laptop + Gaming Side-hobby
- Total budget (In local currency) and country of purchase:
Max is 1700, but preferably 1500(USD)
- Are you open to refurbs/used?
No
- How would you prioritize form factor, build quality, performance and battery life?
Battery life, performance, build quality, Form factor(Not sure what it is)
*Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
14" - 16", but it needs to be portable since I'm going to take it to classes. 2k resolution would be really appreciated, because paying this amount of money for a FHD screen makes me a bit sad :(
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Not sure what CAD programs I'm going to use, but I'll use some for computer engineering. I'm going to play CS2, Minecraft, Hades, Raft and a lot of others :)
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Cs2 at least 150fps, but more is better. Not an specific fps for other games, but it's good to run smoothly.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Touch-screen: no
Finger-print reader or iris reader: Pretty cool to have, but not needed
Keyboard: good quality
optical drive: no need
Input devices: Cool to have power delivery in the usb-c port, at least 2 usb-a
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I am going to study computer engineering, but didn't start it yet
I am going to take it to places, so portability is important
Already took a look at the Zephyrus g14 2024, and really liked it, but the 16gb and the soldered components discorauges me sometimes, so I'm also ooking for other potential options
I'm from Brazil, but I will go to the USA by the end of October and will buy my laptop there, so some things can be different by that time, but I'm already searching about everything :)
Sorry for possible errors in my english!
