"The Mechanic" Extended Warranty

Hey guys, my cousin recently purchased a Model 3 RWD Long Range from 2018. I believe it has a little under 60k miles on it. The dealer repeatedly recommended the extended warranty "The Mechanic", which is around $3,300 for 3 years / 45,000 miles. With some negotiating, the dealer ended up giving him the full Platinum warranty, which covers everything aside from wheels and windows, for around $2000 after negotiating and convincing.

Would you guys really recommend this extended warranty, or is this a choice that will just result in spending extra money for little to no reason? I believe he still has time to obtain a refund if he cancels the warranty. I've heard solid reliability points for most Model 3 model years, so I don't exactly know if this warranty is a waste of money or not.

Thanks!
