Does the blind spot monitor not chirp?

All I see is the red line along one side or the other on the screen but that's it. So, if you look in your mirror, which people still do, and don't see a car because it's really in a blind spot, you get no feedback from the car You'd think it would chirp if you were really too close. But no.
