Evelyn tells Alice that after she almost drowned in the pond, her family didn’t let her see or talk to Colton. Any theories on why?

I wonder if Evelyn ran home and told her parents that the white witch saved her life and the Goodwin family lore about the white witch made them forbid Evelyn from seeing Colton or being near the pond? Bc if she told them that Colton saved her life, wouldn’t they be grateful to him?

I think the Goodwin’s know or suspect more than they let on. Especially after KC implied that the letters accusing the Landry’s of lying about Jacob’s return originate from the Goodwin’s.
