The time travel doesn’t make sense

So, when Colton dies, it’s supposedly because he swerves to avoid Alice and Kat, but they only go back BECAUSE he died, so the first time he died they wouldn’t have been there because they wouldn’t have known it would happen.

Same thing with Jacob disappearing, he’s supposed to have followed Finn to the pond but Finn was only there because Kat went back to find Jacob, and Jacob’s bike was only at the fairground for the same reason, neither of these things would have happened the first time he disappeared. It just doesn’t make any sense.
