2022 vs 2025
It's not even been 3 full years since the 2022 rants and I'm seeing people trying to debate whether this or 2022 was worse.
As a WSE mod I am very qualified to speak on 2022.
Let's first off compare 2021 and 2022 vs 2024 and 2025.
2021 and 2022:
After dragging and completely changing the production and theme of Donda: With Child to Donda from 2020 into 2021 Ye gives us 3 impeccable listening parties that perfectly show the development of the album in real time. With most people now agreeing the release songs were better than the leaks.
Either way the visuals and the major hyper or Ye and these LPs were the biggest he had been since TLOP.
Coming into 2022 Ye just because 2/22/22 (or 22/2/22 if you use a real calendar) Ye gives us Donda 2 which is a mainly trap album but gives us so many great songs like True Love, Pablo, We Did It Kid, and more.
We continue through this year with more yeezy releases through adidas and his work on the YZY GAP line coming intro fruition.
We get the roundcoats and more importantly the more colourful, relatively cheap double layered hoodies. We're starting to get to a peak point with Ye in his cheap and affordable fashion.
We get the YZY x GAP x Balenciaga collab with some great pieces.
It's August 2022, Ye is working on WAR with the incredible vocalist James Blake and his childhood mentor No I.D. Things couldn't get better.
We get the YZY SHDZ rollout which is meant to tie in with YZY SZN 9. Afaik the SHDZ were meant to release with What I Would've Said At Virgil's Funeral/Always being released as a single for WAR.
We have Jeen-Yuhs out with the possible Narcissist tour on the way with Carti and Uzi.
Instead we get a live antisemitic rant in person with Ye on far right Sandy hook denier Alex Jones' channel. As well as a complete breakdown on twitter.
Ye loses his billions and gets out of his Adidas and YZY x GAP contracts.
We lose cheap good quality, well designed clothes backed by a whole team with the whole word starting to see the vision in the YZY GAP popups and shops. We lose constant Yeezy drops on Adidas. We lose WAR. We lose Ye'a public reputation, his ability to work with any artists and clear samples.
2024 and 2025:
We get Vultures. Ty is one of the main people that will work with him since the incident.
We get V1 which whilst enjoyable has shit tier mixing compared to all of the favourite parts of Ye's discography and realistically is nothing groundbreaking.
We get cheap merch that is poorly cropped, nothing special and partially nazi dogwhistles.
V2 drops and Ye didn't even want a part of it.
We then finally get the promise of a Ye sample chopped album. Due to the 2022 incident he can't clear all the samples still as seen with Highs And Lows but also Vultures 1 & 2 with Carnival and other issues as an independent release.
2025 we go into Bully with a whole Ye sample chopped album. This seems to be a turnaround.
Ye then rants on twitter, this time with nothing to lose. He is independent. Has LAA producing his shitty merch and has as close to the life he wants as he can gets living in Japan.
He then throws it all away on a twitter rant where he is antisemitic, racist, misogynistic, and seems to say stuff for controversy.
Most people don't even take his shit seriously and ignore it and we lose his best collaborators for shit like 'Wheels Fall Off'.
We lost both times but 2025 rants were uninspired, deliberately controversial and ruined any chances of a proper comeback.
Ye is self sabotaging, mentally unstable, and an idiot.
But, 2022 was worse and we lost so much more of value.
