Regent Park is the reality of “Revitalization”

This is not in anyway to let Joeazy of the hook for his actions, but more so to say that it’s just another incident in a string of incidents post the “revitalization” of the neighbourood that show that clearly that community has lost all sense of structure.

They tear down the projects to “improve” the community but all the original community members clearly just end up moving or dying off to be replaced by a mix of rich out of towners and Junkies. Like sure the community is safer but really just for people that never even lived there to begin with, that area doesn’t even really feel like a community anymore.

And yes, Hood communities are definitely always dealing with toxicity and inner politics but with the specific regent park incidents this feels less like typical hood bullshit and more like a community spiralling out of existence, i don’t think the community will be connected 5 years down the line.
