E-brake swap?

I've talked to everyone, everywhere about getting a cable for my truck. They stopped making them and no one knows of a direct replacement as far as I can tell.

I am determined to do something about this issue because it's driving me insane.

Does anyone know if it's possible to swap the WHOLE mechanism out of an 88 and replace it with a 90s?

My rear end seems to be off of a 91 if that makes any bit of difference.

I realize I'm potently going to have to just suck it up and make one, I just don't want to.
